Job Summary
Lead Design Build practice as Vice President/Principal-in-Charge in the Dallas office; identify major alternative delivery projects to pursue, vet teaming partners, negotiate teaming agreements and contracts, and drive all pursuit activities. Responsible for project execution leadership including work plans, contract management, staff utilization, quality control (QA/QC), client service, and project profitability for lump-sum design-build contracts. Oversee development and execution of win strategies, ensure staff alignment across disciplines, manage performance metrics, and ensure projects meet budget, schedule, and quality objectives. Manage proposals and sales activities, maintain strong client relationships, and travel as needed. Collaborate with PMs and other offices across the US to deliver successful programs, while adhering to Huitt-Zollars’ QA/QMS and corporate values. Office presence in Dallas, TX, with flexibility for other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- Minimum of 15 years of transportation/federal design experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as Project Manager/Deputy Project Manager/Major Task Lead for transportation/federal design-build projects (preferably >$500M)
- Demonstrated quality control/quality assurance experience
- Strong team-building and verbal/oral skills
- Proven risk management and claims mitigation experience
- Financial management abilities
- Willingness to travel for work as needed
- Ability to foster collaboration across locations
- Excellent communications skills with executive-level audiences
- Self-driven and resourceful work style
- Ability to manage design-build contracts and staff across multiple locations
- Proposals and sales activity experience (engagements, SOQs, proposals)
- Ability to mentor less experienced staff
- Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines and stakeholders
- Compliance with QA/QMS processes
- Ability to oversee large engineering teams (50+ engineers)
