Job Summary
Review safety documentation and support licensing processes for nuclear installations by establishing applicable standards during early applicant interactions. Evaluate relevant chapters in the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) to ensure alignment with design safety objectives and regulatory frameworks. Develop training programs and materials to deliver on-the-job training and mentoring to staff regarding the review of safety evaluation reports and IAEA standards. This role focuses on nuclear safety capacity development within a Saudi Governmental entity's nuclear power program, requiring fluency in English and extensive experience in implementing complex technical projects.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or a related field to design safety
- 10+ years of experience in nuclear science/engineering within a nuclear safety context
- experience in developing and implementing regulatory frameworks and processes for nuclear installations
- particular aspects of the design safety of nuclear power plants (NPPs)
- Good knowledge of the Nuclear Safety framework and infrastructure required to support the development of a Nuclear Power programme
- experience of the licensing process
- regulatory oversight
- Experience in the review and assessment of the NPP safety analysis report
- Experience of working with and supporting countries embarking on a nuclear power program using the relevant IAEA safety standards
- Practical experience in the development and implementation of nuclear safety and regulatory framework technical documents
- including IAEA safety standards
- Experience in successfully implementing complex technical/scientific projects
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
