Job Summary
Perform elevated work on the derrick, including the tubing board and rod basket, while assisting the operator in rigging up and down and lining up the well service rig. Operate tubing elevators for standing tubing and manually lift tubing from racks onto the work floor. Set hydraulic jacks, handle pads, attach guy wires, and walk rods during laydown operations. Report safety hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues to the Tool Pusher or Field Supervisor. Drive the crew truck as needed. Work a rotational field schedule on a 14/7 rotation with 12-hour shifts, including up to 75% travel to Axis Odessa, TX, while complying with all safety policies and PPE requirements in outdoor environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent.
- Must have a valid state issued driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Minimum (1) year of Derrick hand experience
- at least two (2) years of workover rig floor experience
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English
- Must be able to work a rotational field schedule
- Must be able to travel as business needs require
- Must be able to work safely in outdoor field environments
- Must comply with all required PPE, safety, and customer-site requirements
- Able to perform duties with protective equipment
- Able to work near or with heavy tools and moving machinery
- Ability to interact with others in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once
- Basic problem solving and organizational skills
- Reliable telephone (cell phone) communication
- Reliable transportation
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug/alcohol testing

- Must be able to perform elevated work on the tubing board, rod basket, and related rig components
- Must be able to frequently bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and handle rig tools, tubing elevators, hand tools, and other workover rig equipment
- Must demonstrate grip strength of approximately 80–100 lbs per hand
- Must use occasional fine motor skills for hand tools, equipment checks, and related rig support tasks
- Must be able to work outdoors in field environments
- Must be able to work in temperature extremes
- Must be able to work in high noise levels
- Must be able to work with heavy tools, moving machinery, and oil and gas wellsite conditions
- Must be able to wear required PPE
- Must maintain adequate vision and hearing
- Must be able to safely communicate and perform work in hazardous field environments
