Job Summary
Coordinate and implement DER/VPP programs for Loveland's electric distribution system. Develop working knowledge of substations, feeders, load growth, and congestion relief; identify opportunities for DER-enabled congestion relief and non-wires alternatives. Advocate for DER dispatch strategies and resource grouping to maximize local distribution value and system-wide benefits, and collaborate with the DER Manager to define Loveland’s strategy for participation in VPPs and other load flexibility initiatives. Promote internal discussions of DER, demand response, time-of-use, energy efficiency, and beneficial electrification programs; partner with PRPA and other communities to balance local grid needs with transmission objectives. Analyze VPP and program costs and benefits with PRPA, set measurable performance targets, and establish cost-effectiveness thresholds. Support implementation and continuous improvement of energy programs, lead or contribute to RFP development, budgeting, and vendor management, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program feasibility and compliance. Prepare presentations and reports for leadership and governing boards; monitor industry trends in DER aggregation and grid modernization; assist with customer and contractor outreach related to DER and electrification; contribute to long-term planning for load growth and grid modernization.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, economics, business, environmental studies, energy systems, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or supporting complex energy programs such as demand response, time-of-use, load flexibility, DER integration, or energy efficiency
