Job Summary

Enforce laws and maintain public safety by conducting traffic and criminal investigations, responding to emergency calls for service, and performing patrol duties to identify and address suspicious circumstances. Execute arrests, secure crime scenes, and issue citations while utilizing defensive tactics and appropriate force to control situations. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to document incidents, communicate with the public, and implement required training under Arizona POST standards. Work any location, shift, or assignment operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including sprints, lifting, and pursuit tasks in varying environmental conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • U.S. citizenship
  • 21 years of age at the completion of the academy
  • Meet Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) standards
  • Valid Arizona driver's license
  • Valid government issued birth certificate
  • Certified by the State of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) as a Peace Officer
  • Successful completion of physical readiness assessment (PRA)
  • Successful completion of written examination
  • Successful completion of orientation
  • Successful completion of oral board
  • Successful completion of background investigation
  • Successful completion of polygraph examination
  • Successful completion of psychological exam
  • Successful completion of medical exam
  • Ability to work any location, shift and assignment operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
  • Ability to perform sprints, jumping and vaulting tasks
  • Ability to perform lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to move quickly around objects and obstacles in pursuit situations
  • Ability to pursue, extract and use force in both short intense effort and sustained effort situations
  • Ability to perform foot pursuits that may include running sprints of 100 feet or more
  • Ability to run for sustained periods, usually 300 feet but up to 5 minutes
  • Ability to run up and down stairs, usually 2 flights but may be up to 4 flights
  • Ability to run over uneven terrain
