Job Summary
Maintain law and order by patrolling assigned areas, conducting crime investigations, controlling traffic, collecting evidence, serving legal documents and warrants, transporting subjects and prisoners, quelling disturbances, and making arrests. Successfully pass the CJBAT, physical agility test, medical physical, and drug screen examination while demonstrating the ability to work any hours, days, holidays, or weekends as needed. Applicants must be U.S. citizens at least 19 years of age with a high school diploma or G.E.D., and must hold or be enrolled in the Florida Criminal Justice Academy certification. Preference is given to candidates with four years of law enforcement or military experience, or a four-year degree.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen
- at least 19 years of age
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Successfully pass the CJBAT for law enforcement
- Graduated from a Florida Criminal Justice Academy or currently enrolled to start the application process and successfully pass the state exam
- Must be able to work any hours or days as needed (shift work, holidays, and weekends)
- No marijuana usage in the past 12 months
- No usage of other controlled substances in the past 36 months
- Successfully pass a physical agility test (PAT), truth verification exam, medical physical, and drug screen examination
- Must have completed the Florida Law Enforcement Officer Certification or Equivalency of Training from a Florida law enforcement academy and a passing score on the Florida law enforcement officer certification exam

- four years of law enforcement experience
- four years of military experience (police or K-9) or a combination of the above, totaling four years
