Job Summary
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and software developers supporting OMD research, development, and operational transition activities. Provide leadership and project management for the Precipitation Prediction Grand Challenge and Inflation Reduction Act supplemental projects, ensuring government and project objectives are met. Serve as the Deputy Program Manager, acting for the PM during absences, while overseeing contractors, managing budget status, and tracking resource allocation. Assist in interfacing with senior management and the Contract Office Representative, preparing updates on scope, schedule, and risks. Define and assign tasks, monitor progress, and conduct annual performance reviews for Lynker staff. Train new hires, support hiring recommendations, and contribute to business development activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree or higher in Atmospheric Science, Oceanography, Geophysical Sciences, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Mathematics
- at least 10 years of experience in related areas
- 3+ years of experience in project management, leading technical tasks, and working with cross-functional teams
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with demonstrated success working with federal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and senior management
- Proficient in project management tools and software
- Strong knowledge of geophysical sciences, numerical modeling and data assimilation
- Experience working in a UNIX environment with advanced shell scripting languages and familiar with running complex jobs
- Experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) platforms using MPI, OpenMP, Slurm, LSF, etc.
- Familiarity with modern software development practices and version control software, particularly Git/GitHub
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and coordination abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
