Job Summary

Manage and process incarcerated-persons misconduct appeals, ensuring compliance with appeal response timelines and established policies. Draft appeal responses within the law, consult with agency staff on the process, and serve as the subject matter expert for inmate disciplinary procedure appeals. Act as the Department's liaison with U.S. District Courts, the Attorney General's Office, and other State agencies regarding inmate appeal matters. Conduct training sessions for appeals committees. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field plus two years' corrections experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must pass a medical exam, drug test, and complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program including CPR, first aid, and self-defense tactics.

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field
  • Two years' corrections experience
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field
  • Four years' experience
  • Six years corrections experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Medical exam
  • Drug test
  • CPR
  • First aid
  • Self-defense tactics

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with inmate disciplinary or similar process
  • Experience writing policy documents and reports
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar computer programs
  • Completion of leadership development programs/training
