Job Summary
Lead Trainline's global competition and regulatory strategy, acting as a trusted strategic adviser to Executive and Board-level stakeholders on complex matters. Partner with teams across Legal, Product, Technology, Commercial, Policy, and Finance to connect legal considerations with business priorities, while representing the company with external regulators and industry bodies. Coach and develop a high-performing legal team, overseeing strategy, planning, budgets, and goals to ensure the function delivers against current needs and future ambitions. Support responses to high-profile matters and help the business navigate innovation, emerging technologies, and evolving ways of working including AI.
Required Qualifications
- Significant senior legal leadership experience in regulated environments
- Strong judgement
- Clear understanding of how legal, policy and regulatory developments can shape business strategy
- Experience advising Executive teams, Boards or similarly senior stakeholders on complex matters
- Ability to influence decisions in ambiguous or fast-moving situations
- Strong track record of leading, developing and motivating teams
- Creating clarity, high standards and an inclusive environment where people can do their best work
- Strong commercial judgement
- Ability to balance legal risk, business opportunity and customer impact in a practical and solutions-focused way
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or markets
- Experience within an international business where regulatory frameworks, stakeholders and commercial priorities vary by region
- Confidence collaborating closely with product, technology, commercial or policy teams
- Ability to help colleagues move forward with clarity in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
- Experience engaging with regulators, industry bodies or other senior external stakeholders
- Ability to build credibility and represent an organisation thoughtfully and effectively
