Job Summary
Manage end-to-end peer review processes for scholarly journal content, including screening manuscripts for scientific quality, making editorial decisions, and selecting peer reviewers. Identify publication ethics concerns, evaluate revised submissions, and recommend alternative journals for transfer. Drive commissioning initiatives by inviting authors for review articles and special issues, while collaborating with Editors-in-Chief to refine journal strategy and editorial aims. Represent the organization at scientific conferences, build professional networks, and mentor junior editors on editorial processes. Analyze peer review metrics to optimize workflows and contribute to cross-functional process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in AI/intelligent systems
- Proven experience in academic publishing, editorial roles, or manuscript handling
- Strong understanding of peer review processes and publication ethics
- Subject matter expertise in a specific research domain
- Ability to manage multiple manuscripts and priorities simultaneously
- Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience commissioning content and engaging with author communities
