Job Summary
Deputy Editor to join Nature Communications in the Molecular Chemistry and Organic Materials team. Responsibilities include line management of Associate/Senior Editors, supporting the Chief Editor in day-to-day operations, handling original research papers and overseeing peer review, shaping and implementing editorial strategy, liaising with editors across journals, commissioning Reviews and Editorials, and ensuring complete manuscript delivery to Production. Requires a PhD (or equivalent), experience coordinating peer review, strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Role is full-time with hybrid work arrangements in Shanghai and Pune.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Post-doctoral experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Previous experience coordinating peer review and making independent manuscript decisions.
- A genuine passion for scientific communication and promoting rigor and transparency in reporting research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Strong workload management and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
