Job Summary
Deputy Editor to oversee commissioning and editing for Notebook, the English-language online film publication (and contribute to its biannual print edition); manage commissioning and editing, the editorial workflow, publishing calendar, contributor payments, and budgets; build article layouts in the CMS; compose the weekly newsletter; conceive and oversee new editorial initiatives; recruit and manage contributors; edit features for print; monitor analytics and audience insights to set growth targets; represent Notebook at events, festivals, and screenings; coordinate with social media and cross-functional teams to support programming; requires a deep cinema knowledge, strong editing/writing ability, and experience coordinating an international contributor roster.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of professional editing experience in a cultural publication
- Strong copy editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent communication to coordinate an international roster of contributors
- Ability to work independently toward deadlines
- Multitasking across simultaneous projects
- Team player with organized, punctual, and patient work style
