Job Summary
Deputy Director, Juvenile Justice Center oversees policies and procedures for the care and custody of youth; supervises detention, intake, transport services, facilities and operations; participates in labor relations, staff selection, training and performance evaluation; coordinates licensing audits and ensures compliance; must be available 24/7 and work 37.5 hours weekly in a leadership role with responsibility for directing and coordinating staff and operations, including emergency response and administrative readiness. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least four years of youth-related experience; Master’s degree preferred; valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to travel as needed. This role emphasizes program oversight, safety, budgeting, purchasing, and regulatory compliance within a secure residential facility, with strong emphasis on staff development, de-escalation, and collaboration with outside agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Business Administration or Criminal Justice or a related field
- Four (4) years of experience with youth in a residential/detention facility, social services field or a related setting
- Two (2) years of experience in the supervision of staff
