Job Summary
Manage and execute daily shift plans to direct crews on priorities, leading team meetings and assigning resources to ensure high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Take statutory responsibility for assigned roadways, complete inspection reports, and monitor work activities to enforce safety management tools and work instructions. Prioritize tasks, address shortfalls, and respond to unplanned risks while providing direct coaching and development to strengthen employee competency. Complete shift handovers to support continuity of safe production across all shifts. Consistently apply Safety & Health principles with full ownership on site. Participate in productivity and process improvement programs to raise ideas for safety, production, cost, and efficiency. This Deputy role at Aquila Mine, Bowen Basin, supports Anglo American's mission to lead the industry through safer, more responsible mining operations.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience working within the underground coal mining industry
- demonstrated understanding of the coal mining process
- understanding of the relevant mining legislation
- Queensland Deputy or (1st or 2nd) Certificate of Competency or NSW Deputy Certificate with Mutual Recognition
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Minimum Provide First Aid
- Current RIIIS301 – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1)
- Current RIIOHS301 – Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (S2)
- Current RIICOM301 – Communicate Information (S3)
- Current RIIRIS402 – Carry out Risk Management Process (G2)
