Job Summary
Deputy Coroner responsible for forensic analysis, scene examinations, evidence handling, and preparation of case reports. Performs court testimony, coordinates with law enforcement, physicians, hospitals, and other agencies; maintains case logs and supports inventory and supply reporting. Requires ABMDI certification within two years of hire, valid Idaho driver’s license, CJIS background clearance, and Canyon County residency. Strong emphasis on accurate documentation, safety, and professional communication in death investigations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of law enforcement field experience preferably in accident/crime scene investigation or training in a medically sponsored programs or related field
- Certification by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) within two years of hire required
- CJIS background investigation

- Residency in Canyon County, Idaho.
