Job Summary
Design organizational structure and formulate goals to support the Authority's mission in financing affordable housing. Develop and maintain processes and controls ensuring sound accounting practices, including general ledger activities, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Lead month-end and year-end closing activities while managing the closing calendar and validating financial results. Own and execute reconciliation of all subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger, remediating exceptions and audit findings. Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and controls in compliance with GAAP and GASB pronouncements. Supervise offshore accounting support teams and drive automation improvements across the record-to-report cycle using Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP. Manage the annual external audit process and represent the Accounting Department at the policy management committee.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA certification required
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience with progressive levels of responsibility and people management
- Technology-forward, comfortable with driving and leading change
- Skilled with process automation and the use of software/solutions to reduce manual work efforts
- Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutions
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- A highly collaborative team builder, with an ability to foster a cooperative work environment coupled with a desire to develop others
- Demonstrated managerial competence required
- Strong written, presentation, and oral skills
- Experience managing enterprise accounting and ERP solutions (Oracle, SAP, other)
- Must be a resident of Illinois or willing to relocate
- Currently in a hybrid work arrangement, but candidates must reside in Illinois at time of hire
- Must be available for weekend shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Masters degree a plus
- Recent Public Accounting experience preferred
