Job Summary
Deputy Commissioner/Chief Equity Officer to lead CHECW, oversee the Race to Justice initiative, and drive transformative change to embed equity across DOHMH. Lead a division of 500+ employees with an $85M annual budget and $70M in grant funding; report to the Commissioner of Health; partner with community organizations, faith-based groups, and city agencies to advance place-based health equity, develop and implement public health policies addressing root causes of inequities, and champion anti-racist practices across the department. Lead a team of equity champions and executive leadership to place health equity at the center of programs, operations, and policy decisions, representing CHECW at high-level meetings with City Hall and stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes for New Yorkers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Masters from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public policy, sociology, education, ethnic studies, public relations, social work, public health, public administration or a related field
- A minimum of 5-7 years of managerial experience especially within governmental or nonprofit sectors
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive responsibility in policy advocacy and/or community organizing in areas at the intersection of racial justice and health
