Job Summary

Manage and coordinate daily operations of the City Secretary's Office, including preparing and distributing agendas, notices, ordinances, resolutions, and minutes for City Council, boards, and public hearings. Attend official meetings to coordinate setup, document proceedings, and ensure follow-up items are completed. Assist with records management, process public information requests and solicitation permits, and support municipal elections while maintaining accurate, secure documents in accordance with Texas law. Communicate regularly with elected officials, employees, residents, vendors, and government agencies to handle confidential information and manage special projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Two years of municipal government experience
  • Certification as a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk, or the ability to demonstrate significant progress toward obtaining certification within three years of employment
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification as a Notary Public, or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
  • Knowledge of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Public Information Act, and Texas Election Code
  • Understanding of public administration practices, Robert's Rules of Order, and laws governing municipal operations
  • Ability to interpret legal, ethical, and professional standards applicable to public employees and elected officials
  • Strong writing, grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to perform complex administrative work using sound judgment and deductive reasoning
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive records and information
