Job Summary

Deputy Chief of Recreation responsible for planning and organizing borough recreation programs and events, directing staff, overseeing data, budgeting, fundraising and communications, liaising with private/Public organizations, coordinating capital and workplace projects, and preparing marketing and grant materials. Must operate in Staten Island with a strong emphasis on administrative leadership, program development, sponsorships, and community relations within the Parks department; requires a four-year degree with substantial administrative experience or equivalent education/experience.

Required Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of satisfactory, full-time community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, at least two years in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described above, with at least two years in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, including substitutions as outlined (30 credits per year of experience up to 4 years, etc.).
  • Two years of full-time experience in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity as described.
