Job Summary

Oversee prevention activities for the Airway Heights Fire Department serving 12,120 residents, managing a team of 4 career chiefs, 7 career firefighters, and 20 volunteers. Ensure compliance with fire safety standards and coordinate inspections to mitigate risks within the community. Maintain current Washington State EMT-B certification and hold required Fire Officer I and Fire Inspector I credentials. Complete additional certifications including ICC Fire Inspector II and Fire Officer II within one year of appointment. Submit online application with resume and cover letter by October 2, 2026.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of fire and EMS service in a similar or larger sized organization
  • Current certification as a Washington State EMT-B or National Registry EMT-B
  • IFSAC/ProBoard Firefighter II
  • IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer I
  • IFSAC/ProBoard/NFPA/ICC Fire Inspector I
  • Must possess or obtain a valid state issued driver's license
  • ICC Fire Inspector II
  • ICC Fire Plans Examiner
  • IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer II

Desired Qualifications

  • IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Instructor I
  • IFSAC/ProBoard Fire and Life Safety Educator I
  • NWCG Firefighter II
