Job Summary

Execute executive command decision-making, strategic planning, and continuity of operations while serving as primary advisor to the Chief of Police on administrative risk and governance. Provide oversight of compliance, accreditation, policy development, records management, and procurement functions, including conducting internal audits, quality assurance assessments, and managing public records requests. Supervise administrative personnel, oversee personnel systems, and ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements and regulatory standards. Represent the department before university leadership, legal counsel, and external agencies. When designated, exercise full executive authority as Acting Chief of Police. Collaborate with HR, auditors, and accreditation bodies to maintain institutional integrity and operational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field
  • Graduation from an accredited police academy
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience at command level in law enforcement
  • Strong expertise in compliance systems, accreditation, policy development, and governance
  • Knowledge of Clery Act, Title IX, CJIS, public records law, and accreditation standards
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and administrative reviews
  • Strong executive writing, analytical, and reporting skills
  • Experience managing HR systems, budgeting, and procurement functions
  • Experience in unionized law enforcement environments
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential institutional information

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Law, or related field
  • Experience with CALEA or similar accreditation systems
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or campus policing environments
