Job Summary
Lead the accounting function by managing daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring accurate transaction recording in compliance with FEC and IRS regulations. Oversee financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, and cash disbursements while maintaining internal controls and preparing reports for leadership, governance, and membership. Partner with the CFO to implement financial systems, develop budget models for election cycles, and support strategic analysis projects. Review contracts for budget consistency and advise on procurement strategies. Conduct annual audits and assist with tax returns, including the 1120-POL. Work weekends as needed to support the DNC, Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund, and Democratic Properties Corporation.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall work experience
- 4-6 years of Accounting and/or Budgeting experience
- 2 years in a managerial position
- Advanced experience with spreadsheets (Google Sheets)
- Experience developing financial models and communicating their insights to stakeholders across an organization
- U.S. citizens or U.S. green card holders
Desired Qualifications
- CPA designation
- Public Accounting and non-profit experience
- Experience with political or FEC regulated organizations
- Knowledge of FEC compliance regulations
- Experience with Sage Intacct
- A sense of humor and dedication to collaboration
