Job Summary
Department Manager at Bunnings leads a 20+ member team in a high-volume retail environment, responsible for daily operations, sales, stock management, and delivering the Best Experience to customers. Focus areas include training and developing the team, ensuring safety compliance, rostering and planning to meet service promises, driving merchandising and KPI performance, stock accuracy and loss prevention, and building strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams. Requires opening/closing the store on weekdays and weekends and involvement in weekend/public holiday work. Required Qualifications
- Previous experience leading teams in the retail industry or a large, high volume customer focused organisation
- Lead and inspire a large team (20+) to deliver the Best Experience through strong engagement, coaching and teamwork
- Champion a Safe & Secure environment by role-modelling safety leadership and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Deliver on our service promise through effective rostering, planning and being ready when the customer is
- Open and close the store across weekdays and weekends; strong merchandising and stock management skills
- Knowledge of KPI tracking, loss prevention, stock accuracy, and customer experience improvements
- Ability to manage partnerships with Merchandising, Store Leadership and Health and Safety teams
- Comfort with weekend roster requirements and holiday work
- Strong communication, coaching, and performance management skills
- Ability to drive department sales through merchandising and KPI monitoring
