Job Summary
Department Chair - Music tasked with providing leadership of professionalism in teaching and learning within the department. Responsibilities include ordering texts, materials and supplies; scheduling teaching assignments; planning and conducting monthly department meetings; addressing substitute teachers’ needs; following approved courses of study; employing effective instructional methodologies aligned with state standards; maintaining student lesson plans and records; establishing and maintaining communications with staff, students, and parents; developing departmental grade data; committing to professional development; attending extracurricular activities and providing building supervision; assisting in establishing department curriculum objectives and developing plans for implementation and evaluation; coordinating curriculum mapping; utilizing standard office equipment; traveling to school district buildings and professional meetings as required; and ensuring compliance with licensure and degree requirements (BS/BA Degree, Indiana Teacher’s License) and maintaining a minimum of five years teaching experience. The role reports to educational leadership and involves curriculum leadership, data analysis, and ongoing collaboration with staff to uphold high standards of instruction and professionalism.
