Job Summary
Provide and supervise dental care for inmates, evaluate dental health programs and services, act as a consultant to facility physicians, oversee dental supplies and equipment, and participate in dental health planning. Perform routine drilling, fillings, and extractions; complete initial dental screenings within seven to fourteen days depending on facility type; evaluate and recommend care for inmates/patients beyond basic dental services; treat dental care affecting nutritional status; take impressions for dental plates and ensure follow-up care; document all services in the inmate/patient dental health record; instruct inmates/patients in dental hygiene techniques; provide in-service training for health staff in dental hygiene, care, emergencies, techniques and treatment; complete dental exams at specified anniversaries; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Dentistry
- Licensed to practice Dentistry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Maintain current DEA license
- Maintain active BLS (CPR) certification
- Maintain current Driver’s License
