Job Summary
Diagnose, treat, and provide preventative dental care to incarcerated individuals, including creating treatment plans for extractions and restorations. Educate patients on oral hygiene, maintain detailed dental records, and collaborate with medical professionals to address complex health needs within a secure correctional environment. Ensure quality care while adhering to all facility policies, laws, and confidentiality requirements. This part-time role offers competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance, 401K, and tuition assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent
- Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located
- Active BLS CPR Certification
- Current DEA registration
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
- Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
- Must have the ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Must be able to display integrity, professionalism and adhere to a Code of Conduct
- Must be able to comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must be able to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings
- AHA preferred
