Job Summary
Diagnose, treat, and provide preventative dental care to incarcerated individuals while creating treatment plans for extractions and restorations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, maintain detailed dental records, and collaborate with medical professionals to ensure responsive care within a secure environment. Ensure patient rights, dignity, and health are protected while adhering to correctional healthcare policies and legal requirements. This part-time role at the Ventress Correctional Facility requires a DDS, active state license, BLS/CPR certification, and DEA registration.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent
- Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
- Current DEA registration
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
- Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
- Must have the ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings preferred
