Job Summary
Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums through visual examinations, x-rays, and diagnostic procedures. Educate patients on oral health care, promote disease prevention, and assist in agreeing on treatment plans. Locate and repair cavities, extract impacted or infected teeth, perform root canal work, and treat gum conditions with appropriate drugs or surgery. Make impressions and models for dentures, prescribe treatment, and refer individuals for specialty consultations per clinical protocols. Manage budgets, maintain equipment stocks, and document all encounters in electronic health records. Commute independently between CRCHC sites in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Rowan Counties.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions in the English language
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact in a caring and professional manner with patients, staff, and other internal and external customers
- Responsible for administering a program of primary and preventative dental care in a community health center setting
- Must be able to work in a Patient Centered Medical Home model
- Must be able to commute independently between CRCHC sites
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental health care
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
- Able to effectively utilize an electronic health record to document all patient encounters
- Graduate of a United States accredited School of Dentistry
- Current and unrestricted state of North Carolina license as Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
- Frequent walking, standing and moving about
- Frequently bends, kneels and crouches
- Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing
- Talk and hear
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience desirable but not essential
- English, Spanish a plus
