Job Summary
Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and oral structures through examinations, x-rays, and diagnostic procedures. Clean, fill, extract, and replace teeth using rotary and hand instruments, while providing preventive services and oral hygiene education to patients. Supervise office staff including hygienists, dental assistants, and receptionists, and coordinate laboratory services. Manage medical emergencies, administer pharmacological agents, and formulate comprehensive treatment plans based on patient goals and scientific evidence. Adhere to safety protocols and OSHA requirements while maintaining professional communication with diverse populations. Some travel to various practices may be required.
Required Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree
- Licensed in state in which practicing
- Ability to obtain licensure upon graduation
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- Current DEA Certificate registered in state in which you are practicing
- CDS Certificate (Controlled Dangerous Substance) for South Carolina
- Commitment to quality patient care
- Enjoy educating patients on dental health
- Effective communication skills
- Professional and courteous demeanor with patients
- Excellent knowledge of and interest in science, particularly the science of oral health
- Good eyesight
- Good manual dexterity
- Steady hand
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
- Ability to use specialist equipment
- Ability to communicate information about oral hygiene and treatments to patients in a clear and articulate manner
- Willingness and ability to relate to many different people
- Friendly, polite and helpful attitude towards patients
- Some travel to various practices may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a general practice residency (GPR)
- Advanced education general dentistry residency (AEGD)
- American Board of General Dentistry certification
- American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification
