Dental Technician-CAD/CAM

Job Summary
Responsible for receiving, scanning, and digitally processing dental impressions and models to create accurate 3D files for CAD/CAM design and manufacturing in a dental laboratory. Key duties include verifying incoming prescriptions, preparing impressions/models for scanning, operating lab scanners to capture digital impressions, ensuring correct case setup and tooth numbering, cleaning and editing scan data, labeling and organizing files, communicating about scan quality, flagging unusable impressions, requesting re-impressions as needed, performing routine maintenance and calibration of scanners, and maintaining HIPAA/privacy and infection control protocols. Also involved in implementing new digital workflows, software updates, and scanner technologies while maintaining productivity and a clean, organized digital department.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; dental or technical training preferred
- Experience in a dental lab, dental office, or manufacturing environment is a plus
- Familiarity with dental anatomy, tooth numbering systems, and basic restoration types (crowns, bridges, implants) preferred
- Basic computer skills; experience with CAD/CAM or 3D scanning software is an advantage
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow written prescriptions and standard operating procedures
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and handle small, delicate items
