Job Summary
Perform dental hygiene duties including cleaning teeth, noting medical histories, examining gums for signs of disease, recording dental decay for diagnosis, maintaining dental equipment and x-ray machine, applying fluorides, and promoting preventative care. Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to maintain a dental hygiene program for patients; utilize dental instruments to remove accretions, assess periodontal status, and document findings for treatment planning. Must have an associate’s degree, state hygiene license, CPR, and ability to administer local anesthetic; proficient with x-ray equipment and computer tasks; strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited hygiene program
- State hygiene license
- Current CPR certificate
- Ability to administer local anesthetic agents
- Able to use an x-ray machine
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable using computers for a variety of tasks
- Knowledgeable about oral hygiene and dental health
