Job Summary
Conduct teeth cleaning, polishing, and scaling; examine head, neck, and intraoral areas for oral disease; take x-rays; apply fluoride, sealants, and local anesthesia. Chart decay and disease for dentist diagnosis; remove sutures and dressings; take impressions for study casts. Provide oral hygiene instructions, counsel on dietary sugar intake, and collaborate with patients and staff to set health goals. Maintain infection control policies, sterilize instruments, and prepare work areas. Review medical histories, consult with physicians for special care needs, and assist with front desk duties as required. Work chairside with the dentist during examinations and treatments.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed as a Dental Hygienist in New York State
- Eligible to provide Medicaid services / insurance billing
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Computer literacy
Desired Qualifications
- Certification for infiltrative local anesthesia and nitrous oxide
- Clinical experience working with people with developmental disabilities
