Job Summary
Perform general preventative dental care by conducting oral prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and applying cavity-preventing agents. Conduct preliminary examinations including periodontal charting and intra-oral assessments, while performing dental radiographs and taking impressions. Deliver preventive dental education and screenings to patients and community groups, and remove sutures or excess cement as needed. Maintain client electronic health records and ensure sterilization of instruments and treatment rooms. Travel to satellite facilities to complete assigned clinical tasks and attend organizational meetings. Adhere to accreditation standards and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility when serving American Indian and Alaska Native populations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene school
- Current Dental Hygiene license from any state
- Four (4) years of applicable experience
- Commitment to the provision of culturally sensitive counseling services to American Indians
- Ability to perform independently at a satellite site
- Willingness to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural Presentation/Training per year
- Willingness to work with American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility
- Willingness to deliver services in a culturally responsive manner
- Adherence to accreditation and compliance standards/guideline
