Job Summary
Prepare lessons and deliver high-quality instruction to students in vocational classrooms and labs, utilizing diverse teaching methods to support various learning styles. Maintain regular communication with students regarding progress and provide academic advising, tutoring, and office hours to ensure timely responses to inquiries. Regularly assess student learning outcomes and utilize data to contribute to program improvement processes, including program review and accreditation compliance. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support student success and mentor new faculty members to ensure successful integration. Adhere to institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards while documenting grades and attendance in designated software systems. Ensure classroom and lab equipment is available and in good working condition.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD)
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
- State Dentist license
- BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC)
- Infection Control certification (2 units) and CA Dental Practice Act certification (2 units)
- Clinical teaching Instructor shall have direct patient care experience within the previous 5 years in the dental hygiene area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by either 1 academic year of dental or dental hygienist level clinical teaching experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret materials related to area of expertise
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders
- Ability to perform basic calculations relevant to course material and student assessments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and any software required for course delivery
- The physical demands of the job include regular standing, walking, sitting, and the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
