Job Summary
Provide direct patient care including oral examinations, prophylaxis, fillings, extractions, root canals, and crowns while modeling clinical excellence. Lead development of clinical protocols, quality assurance programs, and performance improvement initiatives. Supervise subordinate personnel by interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including Medi-Cal, OSHA, and HRSA guidelines. Monitor system performance, investigate clinical grievances, and process disciplinary actions. Foster partnerships with community organizations to promote oral health education and represent the program at advocacy efforts. Analyze key performance metrics regarding patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Dentist in the State of California
- Excellent working knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, principles, theories, techniques and practices of dentistry
- Ability to perform all necessary duties involved in dental hygienist protocol and procedures
- Ability to perform all necessary duties involved in dental assistant
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in general dentistry
- Previous leadership or administrative experience
- Experience with Medi-Cal Dental and other public insurance programs
- Current CPR Certification
- Highest level language skills
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, attorneys, judges, and/or boards of directors
- Intermediate math skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Very high reasoning skills
- Ability to independently assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontic, and associated conditions and pathology
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of medical management software such as Athena Practice
- Working knowledge of all standard dental equipment necessary to perform duties
- Ability to utilize close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with HRSA-funded programs
- Managing grant-funded services
- Experience in a community health setting
- FQHC or public health experience
