Job Summary
Assist the dentist chairside during fillings, extractions, and cleanings while preparing and sterilizing instruments and operatory rooms between visits. Take and develop dental X-rays as directed, record patient treatment notes, and update dental charts accurately. Educate patients on post-procedure care and proper oral hygiene techniques, manage dental supply inventory, and assist with ordering materials. Greet patients to create a calm, positive experience from check-in to checkout. Prior experience as a dental assistant is preferred, along with dental assistant certification and X-ray certification. This role supports a trusted practice in Kailua Kona, HI, known for a gentle approach and warm, ohana-like atmosphere.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a dental assistant or chairside assistant preferred
- Dental assistant certification or completion of an accredited dental assisting program a plus
- X-ray certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Familiarity with dental terminology, instruments, and four-handed dentistry techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-focused attitude
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Knowledge of OSHA and infection control standards
