Job Summary
Dental Assistant III position at Sea Mar Community Health Centers. Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry across diverse dental procedures (diagnostic, preventative, restorative, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, orthodontics) and assist with patient flow, scheduling, supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include charting in Dentrix, administering vital signs, ensuring sterilization and OSHA compliance, assisting with treatment planning and insurance pre-authorizations, training new staff, and delivering strong customer service to patients. Must hold a valid Washington State Dental Assisting Registration, complete DAIII competency, have 2+ years of experience (or 3 years if no formal training), and maintain BLS CPR, TB testing, and annual health requirements. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, travel as needed, and adhere to confidentiality and Joint Commission standards. The role includes leadership duties, coordination with supervisors, and ensuring efficient patient flow within a multi-clinic health system.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completion of formal Dental Assistant program at a College/Technical Institute or equivalent
- Current Washington State Dental Assisting Registration
- Pass DAIII Competency test and DAIII Clinical Evaluation
- 2 years working experience in Dental Assistant role (or 3 years if no formal training)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain
- TB testing annually
- Current Washington State Dental Registration from the Department of Health
- Annual health screenings and influenza vaccine as required
- Ability to communicate in English (bilingual English/Spanish preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/sit for long periods, and perform physical tasks as required
- Strong infection control and OSHA compliance
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and maintain patient flow
- Ability to prepare treatment plans with cost estimates
- Ability to perform insurance pre-authorizations and verify eligibility
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory coordination capacity
- Ability to use dental software (Dentrix) and EHR systems (Allscripts PM)
- Knowledge of four-handed dentistry and varied dental procedures
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Must be able to pass competency and clinical evaluations
- Confidentiality and ethics training
- Must sign confidentiality agreement
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass background check by Washington State Patrol
- Flu vaccination or approved exemptions with masking during flu season
