Job Summary
Assist the dental provider with chair-side, four-handed dentistry across Diagnostic, Preventative, Restorative, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontic, and Orthodontics while coordinating patient flow, charting (Dentrix/S.O.A.P. or P.A.R.T.S.), vital signs, sterilization/OSHA compliance, and patient education. Requires escorting patients to/from treatment rooms, communicating delays to staff and patients, participating in scheduling and registration, inventory and supply ordering, contributing to Quality Improvement activities, and potential temporary assignment to other dental sites. Must meet education and licensing requirements (WA state registration, BLS, annual TB and flu vaccination) and pass a pre-hire competency test, with annual competency evaluations thereafter. English fluency required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completion of formal Dental Assistant program at a College, Technical Institute or equivalent
- Must be Registered with the Washington State Department of Health and keep registration updated annually
- Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain current BLS CPR
- TB test annually
- Annual influenza vaccine required (with medical/religious exemption exceptions and masking during flu season)
- Background check from Washington State Patrol
- Sign oath of confidentiality and comply with employment conditions
- Ability to read/write English and communicate effectively with patients and staff
- Ability to read and interpret common dental materials and perform basic math related to discounts, proportions, and percentages
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to comply with infection control and OSHA standards
