Job Summary
Dental Assistant I at Sea Mar Community Health Centers supports the dental team with chair-side assistance using four-handed dentistry across Diagnostic to Orthodontic procedures, escorts and prepares patients, educates patients, manages patient flow and documentation in Dentrix and Allscripts PM, and participates in inventory, training, and quality improvement. The role requires completion of a formal dental assisting program and a high school diploma (or equivalent), WA DOH registration, and Basic Life Support within 90 days. Pre-hire competency testing (80% required) and probationary evaluations are part of the onboarding process; annual competency testing is required. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. The position may involve travel and requires adherence to infection-control standards, OSHA regulations, and confidentiality agreements. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor and may include temporary work in other dental sites.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completed formal Dental Assistant program at a College, Technical Institute or equivalent
- Registered with the Washington State Department of Health and maintain registration annually
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain current BLS CPR
- TB test annually
- Pre-hire competency test required (80% to pass) and probationary evaluation process
- Flu vaccine annually (with exemptions option)
- English reading/writing proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to interpret common dental dentistry materials; communicate with patients and staff
- Ability to perform four-handed dentistry and chair-side assistance; knowledge of Dentrix and Allscripts PM
