Job Summary
Assist the orthodontist in delivering patient care by preparing patients, operatories, and equipment for examinations and treatments. Perform clinical and technical procedures under supervision, including taking impressions, removing and placing arch wires, and preparing teeth for bonding. Manage patient interactions by escorting patients to treatment chairs, reviewing progress updates, and answering questions thoroughly before discharge. Maintain equipment, inventory, and sterilization protocols while adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control regulations. Complete electronic patient charting in Orthodontic software and take necessary radiographs. Staff a minimum of two marketing events per quarter and represent the company throughout the community. Work in a fast-paced environment requiring active movement, sitting, standing, and squatting, with occasional exposure to chemicals and radiation.
Required Qualifications
- Must have X-ray license
- Must have Infection Control certificate
- Must have Dental Practice Act
- Must be CPR certified
- Must be able to travel to all responsible region locations
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must have close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to satisfactorily communicate with patients, doctor, and other staff members to ensure verbal communication is clearly under satisfactory - equivalent method of communication
- Must have finger dexterity to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or operate equipment
- Must be able to administer CPR
- Must be able to work in a fast pace environment, while multi-tasking and learning quickly
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of business and client information
- Must be able to handle patient information in compliance with legal requirements, including HIPPA regulations
- Must be able to clean / sanitize instruments without cross contamination
- Must be able to keep dental units ready, stocked and clean
- Must be able to monitor inventory and alert the office manager to order supplies as needed
- Must be able to maintain a welcoming an attractive office environment
- Must be an active participant in team meetings, trainings, team building events, etc
- Must agree to, and work by, the team principles outlined in your training packet

- Must understand basic dental terminology and learn practice specific terms
- Must be able to evaluate patient oral hygiene and cooperation at appointments
- Must be able to take impressions for study molds and appliances
- Must be able to follow laboratory and sterilization procedures according to office protocol
- Must be able to prepare teeth for bonding and assist doctor with bonding
- Must be able to remove, size, and place arch wires to extent allowed by certifications
- Must be able to interact in a positive manner with patients at all times
- Must be able to show care and concern, and help patients feel comfortable
- Must maintain a pleasant, caring, people-oriented team attitude at all times
- Must be able to escort patients to and from treatment room/chair
- Must be able to review with patient, or parent, areas where improvement is needed and give progress updates regarding treatment
- Must be able to give patient instructions and demonstrate when necessary
- Must be able to ensure patients' questions are answered thoroughly before they leave
- Must be able to perform patient care calls
- Must be able to assist the orthodontist in the delivery of patient care
- Must be able to perform Electronic patient charting in Orthodontic software and ensure patient charts are complete and include necessary forms before performing treatment
- Must be able to take patients records (photos, pano, ceph)
- Must be able to maintain open communication with the Doctors), patients, Front Desk, and Office Manager
- Must be able to assist the marketing team in both internal and external marketing initiatives
- Must be able to staff a minimum of two marketing events per quarter
- Must be able to represent the company throughout the community
