Job Summary
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures while preparing treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care. Sterilize and maintain dental instruments in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines, and take dental radiographs as permitted by state regulations. Prepare patients for treatment, provide oral hygiene education, and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EPIC/Wisdom). Manage operatory flow to support efficient scheduling, monitor supplies, and assist with front desk functions including patient intake and scheduling. Ensure compliance with infection control standards and HRSA clinical quality metrics.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current NJ Dental Radiology License
- Current CPR/BLS certification
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program
- Minimum of 1–2 years of dental assisting experience
- Experience in a community health setting
- Experience with electronic health records (EPIC)
- Sterilization certification (CRCST)
- CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) or RDA (Registered Dental Assistant)
- Commitment to serving underserved populations
