Job Summary
Dental Assistant needed at Sea Mar Community Health Centers to support dental providers with four-handed dentistry across multiple services (diagnostic through orthodontics) while maintaining patient flow, charting (Dentrix), vital signs, sterilization and infection control per OSHA standards. Role requires strong patient communication, education, teamwork, and adherence to training and competency evaluations, with duties including escorting patients, scheduling support, inventory, and participating in quality improvement. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, have completed a formal dental assistant program, be WA-DOH registered, hold BLS/CPR within 90 days, and meet annual health requirements; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completed a formal Dental Assistant program at a College, Technical Institute or equivalent
- Registered with the Washington State Department of Health (and keep registration updated annually)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain current BLS CPR
- TB test annually
- Annual influenza vaccine (or approved medical/religious exemption) with mask during flu season if exempt
- English reading/writing proficiency; ability to communicate with patients and staff; able to interpret common dental materials
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to perform four-handed dentistry and assist with Diagnostic, Preventative, Restorative, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontic, Orthodontics
- Proficient in charting in Dentrix using S.O.A.P. or P.A.R.T.S formats
- Ability to obtain accurate blood pressure readings and vital signs
- Knowledge of infection control and OSHA regulations
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to travel occasionally
- Ability to read and interpret dental materials and instructions
- Ability to participate in training and quality improvement activities
