Job Summary
Assist dentists during procedures including restorative work, extractions, and root canals while preparing and maintaining instruments and materials. Welcome patients, sterilize equipment per protocols, and take/process X-rays ensuring radiation safety. Maintain accurate patient records, chart treatment plans, and document clinical observations. Collaborate with the team on treatment plans, provide post-operative education, and manage appointments using dental software. Order supplies, ensure equipment function, and adhere to OSHA and CDC infection control guidelines. Assist with new staff training as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a dental assisting program or equivalent experience
- Current certification or licensure as a dental assistant, if required by the state
- Proficient in chairside assisting and dental procedures
- Knowledge of dental instruments and materials
- Certification in dental radiography, per state regulations
- Competence in taking and processing dental X-rays
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills in managing supplies and equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to convey instructions clearly to patients
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting
- Willingness to adapt to the needs of the dental practice
