Job Summary
Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures including examinations, fillings, crowns, and extractions. Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas by sterilizing tools and ensuring proper infection control procedures. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed, record and update patient medical histories and treatment notes, and provide patients with oral hygiene instructions and post-operative care guidance. Monitor and maintain dental inventory, ordering supplies and restocking as necessary. This role supports the delivery of quality dental care in a pediatric office setting, enhancing team efficiency and patient experience while complying with state dental regulations and office policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Registered Dental Assistant in state of practice
- Radiology license in state of practice
- BLS Basic Life Support
- 2 years' experience in a dental assisting role
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads
- Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel
- General office environment
- May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights
- May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids
- May be required to use physical restraints
- May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials
- May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc
- May have periods of constant interruptions
- Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions
