Job Summary
Welcome patients, take vital signs, and prepare them for dental procedures while maintaining treatment rooms and ensuring infection control protocols. Assist dentists chairside by managing suction, retraction, and air/water, and sterilize instruments and set up trays. Take dental radiographs with proper positioning, mix materials, and provide oral hygiene instructions. Maintain patient records, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and participate in community health initiatives. Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and Kentucky Dental Practice Act standards. Requires one year of experience, Kentucky radiography certification, and CPR.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of dental assisting experience
- Kentucky radiography certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire)
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain
- Completion of EDDA training program
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in taking dental x-rays
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
