Job Summary
Conduct direct chair-side dental assisting for residents and faculty in the General Practice Residency clinic, including care for special needs and medically compromised patients under general anesthesia or moderate sedation. Dispense, receive, process, and purchase instruments, equipment, and supplies; provide oral hygiene instructions and ensure efficient operation during clinical sessions. Organize records systems and expose and develop radiographs. Maintain current CPR/BLS certification and radiographer license. Work Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 2 years' experience sitting chairside as Dental Assistant
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Radiographer license
- Use of both hands
- Dexterity in the fingers
- Ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment
- Ability to manipulate the rheostat for hand pieces or other dental equipment
- Ability to work from a dental stool
- Ability to sit and stand for a duration of time
- Color spectrum differentiation
- Manual dexterity/motor coordination
- Hand-eye coordination
- Physical communications
- Visual acuity
- Communication/language development
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening
Desired Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments and procedures, especially those involving oral surgical procedures
- Experience in an educational and/or hospital setting
- Experience with electronic health record
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internet/email
