Job Summary
Provide four-handed chairside assistance to dental residents and students treating special needs patients across multiple disciplines. Prepare surgical operatories, set up procedures under IV sedation, and assist with patient monitoring while ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials. Take and review digital intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs, process imaging materials, and greet, screen, and direct patients to confirm authorization. Dispense supplies, maintain cleanliness of the work area, and perform routine disinfection of sedation and suction equipment to uphold infection control protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years Graduate of a Dental Assistant Training Program
- experience working with special needs patients
- oral surgery experience
- 1-2 years of related experience
- experience working with patients under IV sedation
- experience working with patients under general anesthesia
- Knowledge of chairside assisting for oral surgical procedures
- Knowledge of oral surgical instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years Experience working with patients with disabilities
- Certification as a Dental Assistant (RDA or CDA)
- Knowledge of a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Korean, Chinese)
