Job Summary
Dental Assisting Instructor - Tenure Track position at Bellingham Technical College. Develop curriculum, teach Dental Assisting coursework to professional/technical and transfer students, provide high-quality student-centered instruction across online, hybrid, and in-person modalities, assess student performance, mentor adjunct faculty, participate in department and college-wide planning, and engage in ongoing curriculum development and improvement. Must hold Washington Dental Assistant Registration and be nationally certified (DANB) or obtain before Sept 1, 2026. On-campus, evenings may be required; this is not a remote position. On-campus presence and collaboration with the Dean and other faculty are required; background check and declaration per RCW 28B.112.080 will be conducted. Salary $74,408-$107,187 based on 173-day contract; benefits and summer contracts available.
Required Qualifications
- Current Washington State Department of Health Dental Assistant Registration
- Nationally Certified Dental Assistant (DANB) or ability to obtain before September 1, 2026
- Completion of a Dental Assistant program, certificate or higher
- Five or more years of experience in the application of four handed dentistry principles and expanded functions as a chairside assistant
- Demonstrated ability to teach and/or train individuals with a variety of learning styles and backgrounds
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting programsuch as Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
- Experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated experience with designing training, organizing instructional content, or using technology to support learning
- Experience with Dental software applications
- This position has access to children under the age of 18 as part of the State of Washington Running Start Program
