Job Summary
Provide chair-side dental assistance using four-handed technique across diagnostic to orthodontic procedures; escort patients, greet and seat them, and manage patient flow. Proficient in charting (Dentrix) and Allscripts PM, obtain vital signs, ensure proper sterilization and OSHA compliance, maintain inventory and equipment, prepare treatment plans and cost estimates, secure insurance pre-authorizations, verify patient eligibility/benefits, and assist the Dental Provider during a range of services from diagnostic to endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery. Demonstrate leadership in coordinating back-office staff, training new employees, and supporting quality-improvement activities and Joint Commission compliance. Must have a high school diploma or GED and complete a formal dental assistant program; maintain required registrations and certifications (BLS, WA Dental Registration). Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; ability to communicate with patients and staff in writing and verbally.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Formal Dental Assistant program
- Washington State Dental Assisting Registration
- 2 years working experience (3 years for those with no formal training)
- Current BLS CPR within 90 days of hire
- Annual TB testing
- Current Washington State Dental Registration
- Pre-hire and annual employee health screening
- Annual influenza vaccine or approved exemption with mask
