Job Summary
Assist dental providers with chair-side four-handed dentistry across Diagnostic, Preventative, Restorative, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontic, and Orthodontics as allowed by the Washington Dental Practice Act. Escort, greet, seat, and depart patients; provide patient education before, during, and after procedures; communicate delays to Lead Dental Assistant, provider, patients, and front desk staff. Perform charting in Dentrix using SOAP or PARTS formats; obtain vital signs; maintain sterilization and OSHA compliance; participate in training of new employees and dental trainees; assist in inventory and ordering of dental supplies; contribute to Quality Improvement activities. May be assigned to other departments or dental sites; some travel may be required. Requires English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Includes required pre-hire competency test with annual competency evaluations, and adherence to confidential patient information policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Successful completion of a formal Dental Assistant program (College/Technical Institute)
- Current Washington State Registration as Dental Assistant (or maintain updated annually)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain current
- TB test annually
- Annual influenza vaccine required or approved exemption with mask during flu season
- English reading/writing proficient; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to interpret common dental materials and communicate with patients and staff
